With the South of Europe and the Mediterranean

During the establishment of a section of the Agency for Information ANSA for the Mediterranean, the former President of the Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, said: “The Mediterranean is the historical meeting place between the Europe and the Arab world. The choice is between two perspectives: to quickly create an area of stability and progress, or to suffer the effects of misunderstanding and conflict. Communication tools can enhance knowledge and mutual respect. These tools will succeed in this task if they draw on principles and values that are part of the ancient Mediterranean affair”.

It is therefore necessary to decide which behaviors take or not take, as individuals, groups, communities, and companies, so that should not prevail the extremism, the fanaticism, the terrorism, and follow the path of coexistence, collaboration, cooperation, peace, that can be fostered by the political action of the institutions, governments, and works of those who belong to the world of culture, art and business.

Fernand Braudel writes that the Mediterranean presents a consistent image, a complex system in which everything becomes an original unity. European integration and peace among peoples depend above all on the implementation of dialogue and meeting between cultures, on the cooperation between enterprises and with cultural institutions, on the creation of communication channels that stimulate, value and use the energy, the abilities and vocations for common projects and goals.
